RECOMMENDED READ: Bob Tyler's "Enough Already!"![]() Enough Already! A Guide to Recovery from Alcohol and Drug Addiction Bob Tyler, BA, CADC II, ICADC 2005 Denver, CO: Outskirts Press, Inc. 139 pp This is a terrific book for an individual contemplating and wondering about the recovery process. This book is for the addicted person who wants a road-map to recovery. The plain-talk, narrative style of Bob Tyler keeps the reader interested, which then allows him or her to stay engaged in learning about a successful process toward recovery. Throughout this informative guidebook, Bob tells his story and gives personal examples in a way that puts the reader in the front seat of his emotional journey, without becoming maudlin or burdensome. This is a good resource for the professional addiction counselor to share with clients, one that provides valuable tools to help in a recovery program, and presents in "layman" terms information about the disease of addiction, the ingredients for recovery, and how to anticipate and take steps to avoid relapse. It is an easy read, it has great tips on how to progress through the Twelve Step recovery process, and infuses Bob's personal challenges and successful approaches to these challenges, with interesting situations with which many readers will be able to relate. Do you know why some groups use a marble as a sobriety "chip"? Read Chapter 3, "Relapse Prevention," to find the answer to that question, . . . and the rest of the book is filled with similar stories that are illuminating. If your client has limited reading time, make sure that he or she goes right to Chapters 2 and 7, where Bob spells out the essential ingredients for getting started - and what to expect - in a program of recovery. Enjoyable to read. Lots of great information. Easy to understand. Recommended read for addiction professionals, so that they can pass it along to their clients.
